A particularly moving event with a strong historical and social significance is being organized on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in the village of Agios Isidoros. This is a naming ceremony for the village’s alleys, which aims to honor people who served the local community with love and self-sacrifice and are no longer with us.
The People Being Honored
The street names are dedicated to individuals and groups who have left their mark on the history and daily life of Agios Isidoros:
-
The village midwife and nurse: Women who provided invaluable health and care services in earlier times.
-
The Village Messengers: The people who served as the “voice” and the channel of information for the community.
-
The Compatriots: We honor the villagers who have emigrated and who have kept—and continue to keep—their love for their homeland alive, no matter where they are.
-
Grandfathers and Grandmothers: A collective tribute to the ancestors who, through their daily toil, traditions, and values, laid the strong foundations of the community.
The evening promises to fill the hearts of those in attendance with emotion, respect, and gratitude, highlighting the cultural and social heritage of Saint Isidore.
