The Rhodes Offshore Sailing Club, as it does every year, is organizing an Open Sea Sailing School to help participants obtain a skipper’s license for sailboats up to 18 meters in length. For 2026, starting October 3…
Since its founding, ASIATH has aimed to promote the wonderful sport of sailing on the island of Rhodes. To achieve this, it was essential to establish and operate an Open Sea Sailing School, which was done in 1986. Since then, those interested have been trained in the basic principles of sailing, as well as in the broader art of seamanship, so that they may acquire the ability to sail a yacht competently and safely.
The School and its instructors are accredited by the Hellenic Sailing Federation and the General Secretariat of Sports.
The course lasts eight weeks and takes place every year from October through December.
It is open to individuals over the age of 18 who know how to swim and have a medical certificate allowing them to participate in sports. For the convenience of students, classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays.
With this certification, they earn the right to operate a sailboat up to 18 meters in length.
To date, 161 training sessions have been held, attended by approximately 1,800 students.
