A two-day event dedicated to the history, memory, and the cultural heritage of the Jewish Community of Rhodes will be held on Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9, 2026. Through guided tours and educational historical walks for school groups and teachers, the event offers a journey into the past, exploring the monuments, testimonies, and rich cultural heritage of the community.
Starting at the Jewish Museum of Rhodes, participants will trace the history of the Jewish presence in the city. Exhibits, personal accounts, monuments, and historic buildings serve as stops along an immersive journey that connects the past with the present and highlights the importance of preserving historical memory.
The program of events is as follows:
- Thursday, October 8
- 10:00 a.m.: Activity for school groups
- 5:30 p.m.: Activity for elementary school teachers
- Friday, October 9
- 10:00 a.m.: Activity for school groups
- 5:30 p.m.: Activity for secondary school teachers
The afternoon activities include a guided tour of the Jewish Museum of Rhodes and the Kahal Shalom Synagogue, as well as an educational historical walking tour of the city.
These activities are organized in collaboration with the Jewish Museum of Rhodes, the Jewish Community of Rhodes, and the Museum of School Life and Education (National Center for Research and Preservation of School Materials), with the participation of relevant education officials.
