Strong recommendation to citizens to exercise increased caution until the end of the wildfire season
As part of its ongoing efforts to inform and raise awareness among citizens, the Dodecanese Fire Prevention and Control Service (DIPYN) reminds the public that the wildfire season in Greece lasts until October 31. We are already in the third month of this period, and conditions are expected to be extremely dangerous in the coming days.
🚨 Instructions and recommendations for citizens:

Avoid dangerous activities: Be especially careful and avoid any outdoor activities that could cause a fire.

Maintain constant communication with the authorities: Consult your local fire department regarding:

Prohibited and/or conditionally permitted activities and work in open areas.

The implementation of the prescribed fire protection measures and resources.

The daily fire danger rating, according to the forecast map of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.

👮 Inspections, patrols, and strict fines
Please be advised that, until the end of the fire season, extensive inspections and patrols will be conducted to prevent fires from starting, as well as to verify compliance with the measures set forth in the new Fire Service Regulation No. 9/2024.
⛔ Please note that failure to comply with the prevention rules will result in heavy administrative fines, as stipulated in the new Fire Department Regulation No. 19/2024.
