Witness to Subject <\/span><\/span>Immediately<\/span> after<\/span> the<\/span> war,<\/span><\/span> Rh<\/span>odes\/Kos<\/span><\/span> survivors<\/span> were<\/span> asked<\/span> to<\/span> recount<\/span> what<\/span> had<\/span> befallen <\/span>them.<\/span> They<\/span> were<\/span> called<\/span> upon<\/span> again<\/span> at<\/span> the<\/span> beginning<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> 1960s<\/span> to<\/span> provide<\/span> evidence.<\/span> In <\/span>each<\/span> case<\/span> the<\/span> focus<\/span> was<\/span> on<\/span> br<\/span>inging<\/span> the<\/span> perpetrators<\/span> to<\/span> justice.<\/span>Twenty<\/span>–<\/span>five<\/span> years<\/span> after<\/span> the <\/span>Eichmann<\/span> trail<\/span> they<\/span> were<\/span> again<\/span> called<\/span> upon,<\/span> this<\/span> time<\/span> to <\/span>narrate<\/span> their<\/span> lives<\/span> and<\/span> the<\/span> tragedy <\/span>of<\/span> the<\/span> Holocaust.<\/span> This<\/span> talk<\/span> explores<\/span> how<\/span> these<\/span> later <\/span>testimonies<\/span> have<\/span> shaped<\/span> our<\/span> perception <\/span>of<\/span> Jew<\/span>ish<\/span> Rhodes<\/span> before,<\/span> during<\/span> and<\/span> after<\/span> the <\/span>Holocaust.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
