The three-day Tribute to Lasithi Prefecture, held in cooperation with the Cretan Brotherhood of Rhodes “O Psiloritis,” successfully concluded a few days ago in Chalki.
The event was a celebration of culture, memory, and tradition, with significant participation from residents and visitors to the island.
The program included:
- A photography exhibition at Sarentzi titled “Verses of Erotokritos,” curated by the Photographic Club CRoP (Creative Rodos Photographers) in collaboration with the Municipality of Chalki and the Cretan Brotherhood.
- A theatrical performance by the theatrical group of the Cretan Brotherhood of Rhodes in the hospitable hall of the “Aretanassa” hotel.
- A musical evening featuring lyre player Stratos Tsirakakis from Sitia, accompanied by Giorgos Serfas on keyboards, Fotis Eliamou on percussion, and Apostolos Xepapadakis on lute. Chalki was musically represented by lutenist Binis Zampetoulas.
The Orchestra was “accompanied” by traditional dances from:
- The dance group “Oi Stavraetoi” of the Cretan Brotherhood of Rhodes
- The Chalkites of Rhodes Association “O Agios Ioannis”
- The Cultural Association of Chalki “To Myrtos”
- The dance group “Glenti”
Warm thanks to the presidents, boards, and members of all the aforementioned associations and bodies for their excellent cooperation which led to the result we all experienced.
The Municipality of Chalki wishes to ask for everyone’s understanding regarding the delay in issuing this official announcement. In the days following the event, unforeseen institutional obligations arose, and our local community was in mourning due to the loss of a beloved citizen. Out of respect for his memory and his loved ones, we chose to refrain from public announcements during that period.
Today, with calm and respect, we want to publicly express our gratitude to all contributors and organizations who offered a wonderful cultural journey to the residents and visitors of our island.
We renew our appointment for next year, where the event will be dedicated to beautiful Rethymno.
With unity and passion, we continue to honor tradition, culture, and the places with which we have bonds of friendship and esteem.
