From First Aid and Tourism Marketing to Robotics, Mindfulness, and Strengthening School–Family Relationships
The Region of South Aegean and the University of the Aegean launch the new fall training cycle
The Region of South Aegean, in collaboration with the University of the Aegean and through the Center for Training and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM), continues to actively implement the Aegean Skills program, offering new, free continuing education opportunities in September to residents of the Dodecanese and the Cyclades.
Following the significant response to previous sessions, the program is entering a new phase with six different training courses covering a wide range of contemporary needs, ranging from first aid and communication to tourism, educational robotics, and the development of emotional intelligence.
Since the launch of Aegean Skills in February 2026, approximately 1,800 registrations have been recorded for the training programs, while during the summer season, 12 seminars have been completed or are currently underway, attracting a large number of participants.
This increased participation confirms the strong interest of island residents in acquiring new knowledge and skills, as well as the need for ongoing access to high-quality educational opportunities at no cost.
The Scientific Director of the programs is Professor Emerita Chrysoula Vitsilaki, while specialized members of the university community provide academic oversight of the individual programs.
September Programs
The new cycle includes six training programs, which begin on September 7 and are intended exclusively for residents of the Region of South Aegean.
“First Aid: Immediate Response to Emergencies”
A highly practical program that focuses on acquiring the basic knowledge and skills needed to respond immediately and effectively to emergencies. The new session will take place from September 7 to 27, 2026.
“Methods for Strengthening Relationships Between School and Family: Rediscovering and Guiding”
The program focuses on the relationship between school and family and on contemporary approaches that can help strengthen communication, collaboration, and relationships between the educational community and families. The program runs from September 7 to October 4, 2026.
“Tourism Marketing – Modern Methods of Promotion and Development”
A subject area directly linked to the economy and tourism industry of the South Aegean. The program focuses on modern tourism marketing practices, as well as the promotion and development of tourism services and destinations. The program will take place from September 7 to October 4, 2026.
“Effective Communication—A Skill That Can Be Learned”
Effective communication is a fundamental skill in both professional and personal life. The program emphasizes the development of practical and modern communication skills that are useful in everyday life and in the workplace. The program runs from September 7 to October 4, 2026.
“Educational Robotics: Programming, Building, and Problem Solving”
A program that introduces participants to the world of educational robotics through programming, building, and the development of problem-solving skills. The program will take place from September 7 to October 4, 2026.
“Mindfulness: Practices for Cultivating Emotional Intelligence”
The Mindfulness program remains one of Aegean Skills’ new thematic areas and focuses on practices related to the development of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and better management of daily life. The program runs from September 7 to October 4, 2026.
Participation in the programs is free and is exclusively for residents of the Region of South Aegean, namely the Dodecanese and the Cyclades.
Upon completion of the training activities, a Certificate of Participation will be issued by the University of the Aegean.
Those interested must submit their registration by September 6, 2026, as the number of available spots is limited.
The new fall session of Aegean Skills marks the continuation of an initiative that invests in the knowledge and skills of the islands’ residents.
The Region of South Aegean and the University of the Aegean are steadily expanding the educational opportunities offered free of charge to the local community, covering topics that address contemporary needs in education, employment, entrepreneurship, tourism, and daily life.
Planning for the fall session is ongoing, with more new training courses expected to be added to the program, providing even more options for residents of the Dodecanese and the Cyclades.
