The “Hippocrates Forum 2026” concluded with great success last weekend in Kos. The event took place as part of Hippocratic Week, a major international event dedicated to medical science, Hippocratic ethics, and the major challenges shaping the future of healthcare.
The Rhodes Medical Association was strongly represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mario Klonaris, and the Chairman of the Disciplinary Council, Ilias Tserkis, reaffirming its interest in scientific collaboration, meaningful dialogue, and strengthening ties among the medical communities of the islands.
The Forum focused on the timely topic “Hippocratic Ethics Meets the Medicine of the Future,” highlighting the importance of linking scientific progress and new technologies with medical ethics, humanism, and respect for human dignity.
The proceedings addressed a wide range of critical issues, including artificial intelligence in medicine, public health, emerging viral infections, trauma management, demographic challenges, and the need for equal access to quality health care for all citizens.
Of particular value were the meetings and exchanges of views with distinguished scientists and representatives of the medical community, which laid the groundwork for new collaborations and joint initiatives for the benefit of health and society.
In his welcoming remarks, the President of the Rhodes Medical Association, Marios Klonaris, emphasized that technological advancement must enhance medical practice without replacing the doctor’s human judgment, empathy, and personal responsibility. At the same time, he highlighted the unique needs of island communities, noting that living on an island should not result in unequal access to healthcare.
