An event dedicated to the historical memory of Campochiaro — Eleousa, to the people who lived and worked there, and to the ties that continue to unite Rhodes with Val di Fiemme—will take place on Saturday, October 3, at 6:00 p.m., in Eleousa, Rhodes, in the square surrounded by historic Italian buildings.
The event is co-organized by the Cultural Association of Dimylia & Eleousa “To Fountouklí,” Pro Loco Castello-Molina di Fiemme, the Dodecanese Association of Italian University Scholars, and the General State Archives—Rhodes Branch, as part of the bonds of friendship and cooperation forged through the twinning initiative.
As part of the event:
- The permanent historical exhibition on Eleousa–Campochiaro will be presented.
- The restored “Waterfall” will be showcased, an important artifact of early industry and wood processing in Rhodes.
The event is dedicated to the memory of Raffaele Zancanella, who made a decisive contribution to the search for our shared history and to reconnecting people and families from Rhodes and Val di Fiemme. At the same time, Captain Giorgos Charitakis is being honored for his decisive contribution to the rescue and restoration of the “Katarraktis.”
