As part of the Rhodes & South Aegean International Jazz Festival 2026 (RIJF), an experiential music and movement education workshop is being organized “Musical Bridges,” based on the Orff-Schulwerk pedagogical approach, for children ages 3–6 and their parents, on Tuesday, October 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Nestorideion Melathron of the Museum of Contemporary Greek Art in Rhodes.
This is a creative gathering where music, movement, and play serve as bridges of communication between children and their parents. Through rhythmic and movement games, songs, musical dialogues, and improvisations with simple percussion instruments, young and old alike explore the world of sounds together, express themselves, collaborate, and create.
The workshop is curated and led by Elena Michailou, with live musical accompaniment by saxophonist and composer Dimitris Vasilakis, who will engage in a musical dialogue with the children and their parents through improvisation.
Meanwhile, the broader program of the Rhodes & South Aegean International Jazz Festival 2026 — Jazz Across the Water: Mediterranean Bridges — will take place in Rhodes from October 22 to 24, featuring international jazz concerts, educational activities, and the MedMus musicology conference. You can view the festival’s detailed program at rhodes-international-jazz-festival.com.
The festival is co-organized by Jazz Democracy AMKE, the Municipality of Rhodes, and the Region of South Aegean; it is held under the auspices and with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture, under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (Greek National Tourism Organization) and with the support of the Dodecanese Ephorate of Antiquities.
Participation is free, but prior registration is required as space is limited. You can fill out the registration form.
