The French Cultural Center in Rhodes is hosting the photography exhibition “SECOND SKIN -SECOND SKIN” by Italian artist Vincenzo Formisano.
Through a series of black-and-white photographs, the exhibition creates a unique dialogue between ancient Greek sculpture, the human body, and contemporary artistic expression. The raw clay, applied to the skin, becomes a “second skin,” evoking ancient Greek sculptural forms and, at the same time, to Formisano’s deeply personal connection to the art of ceramics.
Of particular significance is Vincenzo Formisano’s collaboration with the members of Niki Spartali’s Photography Workshop, who actively participated in documenting the artistic action through photography. The convergence of Formisano’s visual and performative approach with the photographic perspective of the Workshop members creates a collective artistic outcome, in which different forms of expression coexist and complement one another.
