Another expression of the school’s unique culture

The five participations in the “Youth Parliament” program (the first in 2019 and the fifth this year) are not an isolated event in the creative journey of the Rhodes Music School. It is yet another expression of the school culture that shapes our school community. A culture that stems from the dynamism of teachers and students and encourages them to seek knowledge, collaborate, create, take initiative, and actively participate in social life—in other words, to be active citizens.

The “Youth Parliament” program coexists with dozens of other initiatives that take place each school year: European programs, cultural collaborations, student competitions, research projects, environmental and social initiatives, educational exchanges, volunteer activities, scientific and literary events, concerts featuring musical ensembles, and artistic collaborations. None of these activities operate in isolation. They represent different facets of the same educational philosophy, which views each student as a well-rounded individual with diverse interests, abilities, and potential for expression and growth.

This, after all, is the distinctive feature of Music Schools: Music is not an isolated academic subject, nor is it the sole purpose of the educational process. It engages daily with the humanities, language, literature, history, the natural sciences, mathematics, technology, and social studies, creating an environment where artistic education and general education complement and enrich one another.

Within this environment, the selection of five Teenage Members of Parliament is no coincidence. It is the natural consequence of a school community that has learned to give students a voice, to foster dialogue, to encourage openness, and to make participation a daily part of the educational experience.

The Teenage Parliamentarians of the Rhodes Music School were selected from among five different working groups that contributed to this program.

  • 2019: Nikolaos Dionysatos,
  • 2021: Stamatis Diakourakis,
  • 2023: Marios Badanis,
  • 2024: Myrsini Nalbanti,
  • 2026: Theodoros-Konstantinos Vasilopoulos-Vousdoukos.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers at our school, as well as to the parents of our students, for their cooperation and trust.
