The Rhodes Hoteliers Association’s initiative to support staffing at the Rhodes General Hospital has now moved from commitment to implementation.
Sixteen hotel businesses in Rhodes responded to the Association’s call and fully funded the program, committing to fund monthly financial support for three years for 8 doctors, 12 nurses, and 3 medical technologists who will staff the Rhodes General Hospital.
The total financial commitment amounts to 320,400 euros over the three-year period, thus confirming in practice the hospitality industry’s commitment to helping address one of the most significant challenges facing the island today: attracting and retaining the necessary staff at the General Hospital of Rhodes.

From Commitment to Implementation
With all the necessary funding secured, the initiative is now moving on to the next stage.
The relevant agreement with the Ministry of Health is expected to be signed shortly; it will list by name the companies participating in the initiative, in recognition of their tangible contribution.
Once this process is complete, a call for applications will be issued, clearly specifying the monthly financial assistance provided for the three categories of healthcare professionals.
The Rhodes Hoteliers Association believes that this financial support can serve as an additional incentive to attract and retain doctors, nurses, and medical technologists at Rhodes Hospital, helping to address staffing challenges.
Tourism as Part of Rhodes Society
This initiative is part of the long-standing social engagement of the Rhodes Hoteliers Association and reflects the belief that tourism is an integral part of the local community and must support the needs of the community in which it operates.
Supporting public health is an investment in the quality of life of residents, the safety of the island’s millions of visitors, and, by extension, the quality and sustainability of Rhodes as a tourist destination.
Today’s development proves that the initiative has moved from words to action. The Rhodes Hoteliers Association took the lead, businesses in the sector responded, all funding was secured, and the process is now moving to the next stage so that support reaches the people for whom it was intended.
Statement by the President of the Rhodes Hoteliers Association
“Today’s development marks an important step for Rhodes. The initiative we undertook has now moved from commitment to implementation, as the entire program was funded thanks to the substantial response from the island’s hotel businesses.
I would like to warmly and publicly thank every business that participated and contributed to this collective effort. The fact that the entire required funding—totaling 320,400 euros over the three-year period—was covered proves that the hotel industry can make a tangible contribution to addressing Rhodes’s critical needs.
We are now moving on to the next stage, with the goal of ensuring that this financial support is implemented soon and serves as an additional incentive to attract and retain the essential healthcare staff at our hospital.
Supporting public health is a matter for society as a whole. And today’s development shows that, when there is cooperation and a shared will, we can achieve concrete and measurable results for our region.”
