The Mayor of Rhodes, Alexandros Koliadis, with the aim of immediately addressing everyday emergencies.
As the Mayor noted, the Municipality receives nearly 2,800 requests each year regarding issues such as potholes, lack of street lighting, or damage to school infrastructure. Until now, understaffing and equipment shortages have objectively limited the speed at which services could respond.
The new three-year contract establishes a unified system with specialized crews, machinery, and materials, which will be on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
At the same time, the way repairs are organized and monitored is changing. Through a dedicated mobile app, each repair will be digitally tracked from the moment it is ordered until its completion, with before-and-after photographic documentation, strict penalty clauses, and a 12-month warranty for each job. Furthermore, the Municipality of Rhodes will not pay any standby fees, but only for work that has been inspected, certified, and accepted.
The Mayor of Rhodes, Alexandros Koliadis, stated: “We’re here for our citizens 24 hours a day with the new Rapid Response Service. We’re putting into practice a new way of operating for the Municipality of Rhodes. We all know how difficult daily life becomes when a pothole remains unfilled for weeks, when a street is left without streetlights, or when there is damage to a school. Our municipality receives nearly 2,800 such requests every year. And we are well aware of the frustration caused when these problems go unresolved. No matter how hard our staff tries, understaffing and equipment shortages set objective limits. Our responsibility as a municipal authority is to find solutions. That is why we are putting our announcement into action and establishing, for the first time in the Municipal Unit of Rhodes, a modern Rapid Response Service. This is what we want for Rhodes: a modern and effective municipality that evolves and stands by its people.”
