Kastellorizo will be transformed into a large, open-air workshop from Friday, October 16, through Sunday, October 18, 2026, hosting the 6th Kastellorizo Riddles Festival | Science Games. For three days, science meets technology, art, tradition, and nature through a rich program featuring puzzles, experiments, hands-on workshops, astronomy games, escape rooms, art, and interactive talks.

At the heart of the event is the puzzle, featuring brain teasers, workshops, hands-on projects, exhibits, and the 10th Puzzle Contest, where young and old alike can create and solve puzzles ranging from simple to complex. The festival’s themes range from DNA and the brain to the ocean, drones, and space, including:

• Hands-on games centered on Artificial Intelligence, exploring the question “Artificial Intelligence or Humans?”, as well as activities addressing fake news and misinformation.
• Marine science activities, ranging from “Secrets of the Ocean” to “Escape from the Boat,” where a sailboat is transformed into an escape room.
• Astronomy games, solar observation, and activities about the Sun and the Moon.
• The OLIWA workshop, which explores the circular economy and the materials of the future through olive pomace.
• Artistic activities that connect science with cinema, music, the ancient Greek lyre, the visual arts, and short stories.

Mr. & Mrs. Bubble will kick off the festival with a world full of soap bubbles, while the Science Reactors return with a stand-up science show. Students take center stage at the event, as schools from Athens, Rhodes, Symi, and Kos come together in Kastellorizo. At the same time, for the fourth year in a row, special pre-event activities are taking place at the island’s school, and the photography exhibition “Science Is Everywhere,” captured through the students’ own lenses, is on display.

The event is organized by EN.I.G.MA. (Union of Ideas, Riddles, and Mathematics), with the Megisti Riddle Museum as the main attraction, in collaboration with the Region of South Aegean and with the support of the Municipality of Megisti and the Municipality of Fyli. It is held under the auspices and with the support of the Hellenic Parliament, the Ministry of Culture, the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy, the Australian Embassy in Greece, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, and the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).
