The “RODION PAIDEIA” Schools present the play “In the Clearing of Freedom,” as part of the commemorative event for October 28, 1940, on Friday, October 23, at 7:00 p.m., in the “Kallipateira” Hall.
The performance is a dramatic tapestry inspired by authentic testimonies from people and survivors who lived through the darkest yet most glorious moments of our modern history, interwoven with excerpts from ancient tragedies. Through the eyes and interpretations of the middle school and 10th-grade students at the Schools, the chronicle of that turbulent period unfolds: the epic of the Albanian front, the grim reality of the Occupation, the flame of the National Resistance, the heinous crimes, the sacrifices at sites of martyrdom, as well as the redemptive arrival of Liberation.
In the play, the tragedy of war meets the timeless narrative of ancient drama, highlighting humanity’s enduring struggle for dignity, justice, and freedom.
The script was written and the play directed by educator Homer Giannas, while the general curatorship was provided by philologists Matina Kontoudaki, Konstantinos Koumbelis, Maria Menti, and Michalis Roussos.
Admission is free for the public.
