The Culture Department of the Municipality of Rhodes invites the public on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., to the “Rodon” Summer Open-Air Theater for the original performance of “Koskino” by Yannis Megalakakis, with free admission.
Yannis Megalakakis is a dance teacher, researcher, and author, with many years of dedication to the study, teaching, and promotion of the Greek dance tradition, particularly Cretan dances. Through his work, he has made a decisive contribution to the preservation and creative continuity of our intangible cultural heritage.
“Koskino” is a unique performance that explores Greek tradition through a sincere and experiential dialogue. Taking the symbolism of the sieve as his starting point, Yannis Megalakakis examines what we have inherited from the past, seeking out those elements worth passing on to future generations.
Through a unique “lesson” in Cretan dance, a personal monologue, and screenings of rare archival footage, the performance highlights the teacher’s struggle, responsibility, and passion for preserving and passing on our cultural heritage.
The Department of Culture of the Municipality of Rhodes invites residents and visitors to the island to attend a unique artistic presentation that combines speech, movement, and memory, highlighting the timeless value of tradition.
