On Monday, August 17, 2026, a citywide campaign will take place to promote voluntary blood donation and immediately meet the increased needs of the General Hospital of Rhodes.
The summer season, the large increase in population due to tourism, the reduced turnout of many regular blood donors, and precautionary safety measures due to numerous accidents and major surgeries have significantly reduced the available blood supply.
At the same time, the hospital’s needs remain high due to traffic and other accidents, surgeries, oncological and hematological cases, patients with thalassemia, and other emergencies.
The need for blood cannot wait.
We call on all citizens who are eligible to donate blood, ages 17 to 60, to actively participate in this effort and to encourage at least one more person to become a volunteer blood donor.
At this time, every donor counts.
Every unit of blood can save a life.
