The Region of South Aegean, in collaboration with the University of the Aegean through the Center for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM), is continuing to offer the free Aegean Skills training programs throughout August, promoting lifelong learning and the development of modern skills for island residents.
The initiative has seen a particularly strong response since its launch in February 2026, with approximately 1,800 registrations to date. At the same time, a total of 12 training seminars have been held or are currently underway during the summer season, a fact that confirms the growing interest among residents of the Dodecanese and the Cyclades in lifelong learning, specialized training, and the acquisition of new skills.
The Aegean Skills program covers a wide range of topics, such as digital skills, education, entrepreneurship, tourism and hospitality, communication, health, culture, creative expression, and traditional arts, linking knowledge to the real needs of society and the labor market.
The Scientific Director of the programs is Professor Emerita Chrysoula Vitsilaki, while specialized members of the academic and professional communities provide academic oversight of the individual activities, ensuring the quality and high standard of the educational process.
The August programs cover critical areas of contemporary knowledge and the local economy and offer participants substantive knowledge and practical skills.
The following programs are scheduled for August:
- Digital Classroom Tools: Making the Most of Interactive Whiteboards (6th session)
- First Aid: Immediate Response to Emergencies (10th session)
- Organization and Operational Management of Tourist Accommodations (3rd cycle)
- The Art of Pebble Art – a hands-on program at the Asclepieion.
The repetition of successful courses as well as the expansion of the subject matter reflect the consistent commitment of the Region of South Aegean and the University of the Aegean to offering high-qualitythat is directly linked to the real needs of the islands, the labor market, and the local community.
All programs are offered free of charge, are intended exclusively for residents of the Dodecanese and the Cyclades, and conclude with the issuance of a Certificate of Participation by the University of the Aegean.
At the same time, planning for the new series of training programs for the fall has already been completed, as part of which more than 30 new seminars are expected to be announced, further enriching the Aegean Skills program with new subject areas and contemporary educational topics.
The collaboration between the Region of South Aegean and the University of the Aegean continues to represent a substantial investment in knowledge, lifelong learning, and the development of the islands’ human resources, creating new opportunities for education, training, and professional development for the residents of the South Aegean.
