A special series of activities was successfully held at the Agios Ioannis Senior Citizens’ Center, focusing on music, theater, memory, imagination, observation, and creative expression.

The three activities were designed to offer Senior Center members opportunities for recreation, communication, and social interaction, as well as to stimulate their memory, imagination, and creative potential.

The series of activities began with the musical event “And KAPI Wants Its German Too,” which took place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The event was a special musical gathering featuring singing, live music, and storytelling, creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere for all in attendance.

The event featured: Giorgos Hatzantonis—piano, vocals, and storytelling; Helmut Strack—accordion and vocals; Tina Kanka—vocals. The music gave KAPI members the opportunity to sing, have fun, and share beautiful moments through a program that combined music and human connection.

The second activity was an experiential theater workshop led by the ArtThalies theater workshop, titled: “Recognizing and Expressing Emotions Through the Art of Theater.” Through theater games, improvisation, movement, and expression exercises led by facilitator and actress Emily Koniari, participants had the opportunity to recognize and express emotions, communicate with the group, stimulate their memory and imagination, and boost their self-confidence.

The workshop included exercises such as “What Are You Doing?”, “How Am I Today?”, “When I felt…,” “The Mirror,” “I Walk with an Emotion,” as well as improvisation exercises such as “Two People, One Emotion” and “Bus Stop.” Special emphasis was placed on creating a safe and enjoyable environment where each participant could express themselves in their own way, without feeling pressured to share personal experiences. The session concluded with the exercise “What emotion am I leaving with?”, through which participants expressed, with a single word or gesture, the emotion they felt as the session came to a close.

The third activity, titled “A Journey Through Our Memories, Imagination, and Stories,” focused on stimulating memory, enhancing concentration, fostering creativity and storytelling, as well as strengthening social interaction and positive emotions. Through four experiential and creative activities led by psychologist Maria Sofia Potamiti, participants had the opportunity to engage their memory, their verbal expression, and their creative thinking.

In the “Surrealists’ Game,” everyday objects served as inspiration for creating stories and sparking the imagination. In “Continuing the Story,” participants collaborated to create a shared narrative, while “The Basket of Memories” served as an enjoyable exercise in observation and recall. A special place in the program was given to “The Thread of Life,” through which participants were invited to reflect on important milestones in their lives, such as childhood, school, friends, work, family, travel, and significant changes or moments that left a lasting impression on them.

As part of the same series of activities, there were also sessions focused on observation, concentration, mindfulness, and creativity. In the activity “I Walk Without Going Anywhere,” participants explored their surroundings through different “filters” of attention, focusing on movement, sounds, sight, and the small details of their environment.

These activities once again highlighted the important role of the Senior Citizens’ Center as a vibrant space for social interaction, creativity, expression, and participation. Music, theater, storytelling, play, and the use of memory and imagination created opportunities for communication and meaningful interaction, while also offering moments of joy, entertainment, and creative engagement.
