The play “Euthalia of Galata,” based on the novella “Fahise Tsika” by Thomas Korovinis (Agra Publications), will be presented at the Municipal Theater of Rhodes by the ART Artistic Company on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, at 9:00 p.m.
It tells the true story of Euthalia from Kerasounta, who arrived in Constantinople in 1917 as an unaccompanied war orphan, amid the events of the Pontic Genocide. The play traces her life in the City alongside major historical events, Kemal’s arrival, the wars, the realignment of the political landscape in the East, and the population exchange. Amid the labyrinthine alleys of Galata, the heroine reminisces about her past, the loneliness of those who remained, and her great love for the Spanish officer Marciano.
The role of Euthalia is played by Nicoletta Vlavianou, while Estella Kopanou appears alongside her and sings. The performance lasts 75 minutes.
