The Culture Department of the Municipality of Rhodes is organizing a special opera evening featuring the internationally renowned Rhodian baritone Dimitris Tiliakos on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 9:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Palace of the Grand Master, with free admission, to mark the 30th anniversary of his international artistic career.
The concert, titled “From Rhodes to the Stages of the World,” marks a symbolic homecoming for the artist, who, after a brilliant career on the world’s most prestigious opera stages, returns to the place where his musical journey began.
He is joined at the piano by the distinguished pianist Thanasis Apostolopoulos, one of Greece’s most prominent soloists and vocal accompanists.
The program includes works by Maurice Ravel, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Umberto Giordano, Georges Bizet, and Pietro Mascagni, as well as a section dedicated to great songs by Greek composers.
Through a program of high artistic standards, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the finest pieces from the international operatic repertoire, as well as timeless works of Greek musical composition, in a concert that highlights the range, power, and profound expressiveness of the human voice.
The event aims to be one of the most significant cultural events of this summer in Rhodes, honoring an artist who, for three decades now, has consistently and successfully represented Greece on the world’s greatest musical stages.

Dimitris Tiliakos
Dimitris Tiliakos was born in Rhodes and studied vocal performance at the Athenaeum Conservatory under Kostas Paschalis. With a scholarship from the “Maria Callas” Foundation, he continued his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, where he earned the Meisterklassendiplom.
He has performed at the world’s most prestigious opera houses and concert halls, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, the Opéra National de Paris, the Semperoper in Dresden, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Zurich Opera, the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, and La Monnaie in Brussels. He has collaborated with leading conductors and directors of our time, and his discography has earned significant international acclaim. He also teaches at master classes and prestigious music institutions in Greece and abroad.
Thanasis Apostolopoulos
Thanasis Apostolopoulos studied piano at the Athens Conservatory and continued his studies in London, Paris, and Salzburg.
He has collaborated with major orchestras, such as the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras, the Camerata—Orchestra of the Friends of Music, and the Hanover Radio Philharmonic. He performs regularly at major European concert halls and festivals, and is particularly distinguished in the fields of chamber music and lieder, collaborating with leading Greek and international artists.
