To mark the 110th anniversary of its founding in 1916, the Pan-Rhodian Association of America “Apollon” is organizing its Annual Pre-Conference at Monolithos on Rhodes.
This important event for the Greek diaspora and the local community will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with the event scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m..
Presentation of the “Dorieus of Rhodes” Statue Donation
During the pre-conference, the Deputy Mayor for Culture of the Municipality of Rhodes, Eustathios Manousakis, will present the donation of the statue of Dorieus of Rhodes. He was the historic founder of the city of Rhodes in 408 B.C., a gesture of great symbolic and cultural significance for the island.
“International Dark Sky Community” Initiative
Another key and innovative topic of the conference will be presented by Mr. Stylianos Koutris, who will present the prospect of incorporating Monolith as International Dark Sky Community. This initiative is directly linked to the region’s unique geographical characteristics, which are known for their significantly reduced light pollution, opening new horizons for the scientific community and alternative tourism.
